MY LIFE COLORING BOOK educates and delights in a unique way.
Hi! Nice to meet you. My name is Victoria Hart and I'm an artist who enjoys creating one-of-a-kind art that starts those "Oh WOW where did you get THAT from?!" conversations. For me, everything I create is a *vegan adventure, first and foremost -- which means that you'll find a heartfelt message of conscientious kindness and compassion within every piece of my art. In the case of MY LIFE COLORING BOOK art, that will be most evident in the text area (... unless you're looking a little closer). Education is important to me, especially when it exposes how we've been taught to view nonhuman animals as "lessers" who (we've selfishly assumed) don't have the same fundamental rights and interests that we human animals do -- such as the right to not be someone else's property or used for someone else's interests -- and that is why I've set up the educational text options you'll see on the ordering page.
What does "vegan" (pronounced "vee-gun") mean? Good question. The word was coined in the 1940's by members of The Vegan Society (UK). The two-part definition addresses a moral baseline and still stands strong today:
"Veganism is a way of living which excludes all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, the animal kingdom, and includes a reverence for life. It applies to the practice of living on the products of the plant kingdom to the exclusion of flesh, fish, fowl, eggs, honey, animal milk and its derivatives, and encourages the use of alternatives for all commodities derived wholly or in part from animals."
Unlike vegetarianism, veganism has always had a specific, unifying philosophy associated with it and addresses much more than what one eats. Once understood, it's easy to see that authentic veganism not only requires an extended circle of compassion in action, but also stands against speciesism and other forms of injustice and oppression that make life miserable for so many. But perhaps most importantly, being vegan is the best exemplification of The Golden Rule that I have ever known and deeply loved. And I think it shows in my art.
It's an honor for me to provide you with affordable one-of-a-kind coloring art that delights, educates, and celebrates a special animal in your life. Here's what you can do on your end: To make your coloring adventure extra cool and kind, purchase eco-friendly "vegan" crayons, colored pencils, paint or paint brushes that aren't made using animal-derived ingredients or tested on animals,... and okay, maybe splurge on a superbly designed pencil sharpener that was assembled under fair labor practices and will make all your friends jealous. If you'd rather support the reusing or recycling of art supplies (which I recommend), you can look for them at thrift stores, garage sales, etc. -- and don't forget the perfect frame that will complement your coloring page masterpiece! Anything along these lines will help make your MY LIFE COLORING BOOK experience kind, creative, and soul-satisfying as it can be!
